ObservationWho visits flowers?
With an adult. Stay away from nests and never handle insects. If stings pose an allergy risk, observe through a closed window.
Materials
Outdoor flowering plant, paper, pencil, clock.
Steps
- With an adult choose a spot for calm observation from a distance.
- For five minutes record insect visits without catching insects or touching plants.
- Repeat at another time. Compare visit counts and weather.
What can you notice?
Flower-visiting insects may transfer pollen. A visit alone does not prove pollination; weather and time also affect observations.
