How Is Amber Made? A Resin Drop’s Million-Year Journey

Co błyszczy na prastarym drzewie? Z pękniętej gałęzi płynie żywica Złota i lepka spływa po korze Mały owad przysiada na kropli Jego nóżki od razu się kleją Kropla opada na leśną ziemię Piasek i muł ją kryją i chronią Dawna żywica leży pod ziemią Osady ją kryją: piasek i muł Miliony lat powoli twardnieje Aż zmienia się w bursztyn Pory roku mijają nad ziemią W głębi ta kropla nadal jest chroniona Nie dni, lecz całe miliony lat Przejrzysty bursztyn łapie światło Dawna żywica leży pod ziemią Osady ją kryją: piasek i muł Miliony lat powoli twardnieje Aż zmienia się w bursztyn Woda go odsłania, lecz nie tworzy Fale niosą go na mokry brzeg Dziecko podnosi złoty ślad lasu Dawna żywica leży pod ziemią Osady ją kryją: piasek i muł Miliony lat powoli twardnieje Aż staje się bursztynem — śladem lasu

What gleams on the ancient tree? From a broken branch, the resin flows Golden and sticky, down the bark it trails A tiny insect touches the drop Its little feet stick fast to the surface The droplet falls to the forest ground Sand and mud cover and shelter it Ancient resin lies buried below Sediment covers it: sand and mud Through millions of years, it slowly hardens And changes into amber Seasons sweep over the hidden drop Buried beneath, it stays protected Not days, but millions of years pass by Clear, hardened amber catches the light Ancient resin lies buried below Sediment covers it: sand and mud Through millions of years, it slowly hardens And changes into amber Water reveals it but does not make it Waves carry amber onto wet sand A child lifts the old forest's golden trace Ancient resin lies buried below Sediment covers it: sand and mud Through millions of years, it slowly hardens It turns into amber, the forest's trace
