Take Some Away—How Many Remain? Subtraction Song for Kids

◷ 3:09

A catchy counting song shows subtraction by moving 3 of 8 apples into a basket and counting the 5 that remain. Children can then check the answer by putting the group back together: 5 + 3 = 8. Made for ages 7–10.

Song lyrics
Apa yang berkilau di tikar kotak-kotak? Delapan apel merah berbaris rapi Kuhitung semua, satu per satu Sebelum dipindah, jumlahnya delapan Kupindahkan tiga ke keranjang Satu per satu, hanya berganti tempat Kuambil sebagian, berapa tersisa? Pengurangan menunjukkan berapa yang tinggal Delapan kurang tiga, hasilnya lima Tadi delapan, kupindah tiga, tinggal lima Tiga apel kini di keranjang Barisan pendek masih di tikar Kuhitung cermat: tersisa lima Itulah hasil pengurangan Hitungannya cocok dengan yang kulihat Kuambil sebagian, berapa tersisa? Pengurangan menunjukkan berapa yang tinggal Delapan kurang tiga, hasilnya lima Tadi delapan, kupindah tiga, tinggal lima Tiga dari keranjang kembali ke tikar Lima tambah tiga jadi delapan Kelompok awal kembali; hitungan cocok Kuambil sebagian, berapa tersisa? Pengurangan menunjukkan berapa yang tinggal Delapan kurang tiga, hasilnya lima Tadi delapan, kupindah tiga, tinggal lima Delapan apel ada di tikar lagi Kini kutahu mengapa tersisa lima
Language version lyrics
What shines on the checkered picnic blanket? Eight red apples make a tidy row I count the whole group one by one Before I move one, there are eight I place three gently in the basket Each apple simply changes place Take some away—how many remain? Subtraction shows how many stay Eight minus three equals five Eight at first, three moved, and five remain Three red apples rest in the basket The blanket holds a shorter row I count it carefully: there are five Five is the subtraction result The equation matches what I see Take some away—how many remain? Subtraction shows how many stay Eight minus three equals five Eight at first, three moved, and five remain I bring those three back to the blanket Five plus three makes eight again The starting group is back—our check works Take some away—how many remain? Subtraction shows how many stay Eight minus three equals five Eight at first, three moved, and five remain All eight are on the blanket now Now I know why five remained
